About Course

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of industrial relations and labour law in India, focusing on the frameworks that regulate the relationship between employers and workers. Students will explore the legal provisions relating to trade unions, industrial disputes, wages, strikes, lockouts, and social security. The course emphasizes maintaining industrial peace, reducing disputes, and ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of workmen. With a critical study of the Trade Union Act, Industrial Disputes framework, Standing Orders, Disciplinary Enquiry, and the Wages Code 2020, students will develop a strong foundation for careers in labour law, HR, and industrial relations.

What Will You Learn?

  • Understand the role of Trade Unions and their legal framework in India.
  • Apply principles of industrial relations and dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Analyze strikes, lockouts, retrenchment, lay-offs, and closures within the legal framework.
  • Examine the provisions of the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) and procedures for disciplinary enquiry.
  • Gain insights into the Wages Code 2020, including minimum wages, bonus, and penalties.
  • Understand the concept of social security, welfare, and constitutional basis in India.
  • Critically examine laws related to factories, apprentices, worker welfare, and misconduct.
  • Develop legal reasoning to address industrial disputes and unfair labour practices.
